One-of-a-kind Interactive Dark Ride Named #3 Best New Attraction in the Country by USA Today, receives Brass Ring Award from IAAPA, and a Golden Ticket Nomination from Amusement Today.

Located on Cannery Row near the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Treasure Hunt: The Ride, is a national favorite according to USA Today readers and industry experts. Readers voted it to third place in the category of Best New Attractions of 2024.

This is the latest addition to a list of notable recognitions given to Treasure Hunt: The Ride over the last few months that includes a Brass Ring Award from IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) and a Golden Ticket Nomination from Amusement Today, both for Best New Family Attraction. The average person won’t be familiar with Brass Ring and Golden Ticket Awards, but they’re like the Oscars within the Amusement Industry and are among the most sought-after awards celebrating the “Best of the Best” among theme parks, amusement parks, family entertainment centers and water parks around the world.

When we announced we were bringing a theme park quality ride and experience to Cannery Row, we knew guests would love it, The ride’s story draws inspiration from Monterey’s real pirate history and mixes in the creativity, artisanship and talent that only our team at Daniels Wood Land and our partners, Sally Dark Rides, could develop.

“Treasure Hunt: The Ride is a special collaboration for all of us,” shared John Wood, president, Sally Dark Rides. “Together with the Daniels Wood Land team we developed a thematically rich, interactive experience unlike any other, and the result is pure family dark ride fun. Thank you to our fans and to everyone who voted for Treasure Hunt: The Ride!”

The nearly 20-minute Treasure Hunt: The Ride experience begins with the tale of pirate Captain Bouchard and his crew who are said to have hidden their treasure in the newly re-discovered caverns beneath historic Cannery Row. Guests board four-person ride vehicles to travel through the caverns and use interactive onboard “Treasure Collector” devices to collect treasure, avoid pirates, and hopefully escape from a mighty kraken.

Treasure Hunt is becoming more well known every day, and it’s rapidly becoming a critical part of guest plans during every visit to Cannery Row. Thank you USA Today’s 10Best, IAAPA, and Amusement Today; and to everyone who has sought treasure with us. We look forward to welcoming thousands of families to THTR in 2024 and beyond.
